Patient safety and risk management are two complementary terms related to the potential harm to patients during hospital care. In medical literature, “patient safety” refers to the principle aimed at ensuring the physical integrity of the patient at each stage of the care process by all parties involved in their care. According to the WHO, “adverse events may be related to problems in clinical practice, products, procedures, or the system.”
