What is a subminiature load cell?
A subminiature load cell is a type of cell with extraordinarily high accuracy and reliability. The LLB130 measures compression with a small footprint of 0.38″ (9.5mm) outer diameter and 0.14″ (3.4 mm) height. It has a special single-gauge design for robust integration with the sensor box, which avoids inter-gauge wire for better calibration performance. Increased strain measurement around the active sensor element thanks to a tailored strain element lowers repeatability mistakes and installation disasters.
What are the applications of a subminiature load cell?
There are many different applications that can be done with this type of load cell. To give an example, we will talk about Robotic Tactile Sensing where subminiature load cells are used to measure the strength the robot is using in a certain item with its fingers.
How it Works?
-
As research laboratories continue to delve deeper into the field of robotics, a larger demand for high-precision test and measurement equipment will emerge.
-
Five Miniature Load Buttons are placed to the tip of each robotic finger in this application. The force required to control different things is collected as the robotic hand manipulates them.
-
Research engineers can feed numerous forces directly onto their PC using FUTEK’s USB Solution and these Load Buttons.
-
If the engineers use measuring software in their PC, which makes them able to graph and log all of the data in real-time.

What was learned?
Miniature Load cells serve to measure things that require precise data to function. The example of the robotic hand demonstrates that this load cell can be used in various ways.
