One of the main concerns in today’s world is the consumption of potable water. Recent studies show that a large percentage of the water used is for the irrigation of crops and vegetation. Due to the impact on the reserves of this resource, as well as the need for agriculture to ensure food availability in the world, many efforts have been made to study better techniques for the efficient use of water in irrigation systems.

One of the variables to consider for optimizing water consumption in the soil is moisture, requiring an adequate percentage for the optimal growth of plants and crops. Maintaining the ideal humidity in each case is possible with the solutions available in our portfolio:

Soil Moisture Monitoring

Soil Moisture Data Reading and Logging

The Agribun humidity and temperature sensor is designed to be installed at various points where irrigation is intended. With its waterproof and environmental-proof design, it provides reliable and continuous data reading and logging. This information is sent via Wi-Fi to a remotely located monitoring station within the fields.

Soil Moisture Condition Alarming

The Hygro Dot device is an alarm system that works alongside the Agribun sensor to alert the monitoring station about any variations in soil conditions, allowing necessary actions to be taken in order to start or to stop irrigation and achieve the optimal moisture percentage.

Wireless Signal Amplification for Sensors

Due to the dimensions of soils dedicated to cultivation, communication between wireless devices and monitoring stations becomes complicated. Therefore, it is necessary to implement access points such as the AW5601 device, which significantly amplifies the signals from the sensors and alarm devices to maintain continuous feedback of the data sent to the control centers for irrigation scheduling.

Cloud Data Storage and Management

Using the LoggerFlex CLOUD monitoring system, the centralization of all information received from sensors and alarm devices is achieved, allowing visualization of irrigation behavior and soil conditions, enabling optimization of crops and vegetation irrigation planning.

Irrigation Process Control

In order to keep an optimized control during soil irrigation processes, a PLC such as the model FBs-60MCR2-AC can be used. This device has several digital inputs and outputs to send instructions over the equipment involved. Farmers and engineers can program the PLC to make the necessary adjustments according to the conditions and requirements of crops and vegetation in real-time.

In summary, these devices are key for the optimization of soil irrigation, maintaining a controlled water consumption and achieving a positive change to the environmental impact of the crucial activity that agriculture represents in our lives.
