What is a PLC?
A PLC or Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) is an electronic device mostly used in industrial automation. A PLC controls the logic function of machines, plants and industrial processes. At the same time, PLCs receive digital signals and analogic signals, thus strategies of control can be applied.
Controllino
Controllino is a PLC based on microcontrollers (MCUs) ATmega328 and Atmega2560 that combines the flexibility and the nature of open coding from the ecosystem Arduino with the security and confidentiality of a PLC from industrial standards.
Controllino is 100% compatible with Arduino
Controllino was developed having in mind the most optimal standards of security from the industry, and it is certificated from the CE. This makes it perfect to be used not only for prototype usage but for final projects as well.
The simplicity and flexibility of the Arduino ecosystem can reduce drastically the time and cost of a project development. Thus, focus on the most important thing in the project. Everything without having to sacrifice fidelity and performance.
Unlimited I/O
Controllino has up to 61 I/O relays and channels, the ranges go from 5V to 250V at up to 16A. Thus, controlling will work perfectly for an almost limitless range of automation and control applications.
What software is Controllino compatible?
Having an open source software, the possibilities are endless. The types of ways it can be programmed give its users the liberty to choose the best tool for their projects.
Softwares that are compatible: Arduino, Visuino, Atmel Studio, logi.CAD, LabView , Matlab, GNU Octava, SciLab, Visual Studio Code, openPLC
and flowcode.
Special Characteristics
Every Controllino PLC has an intern RTC that uses SPI that can be turned ON and OFF to use the SPI for other things through the Pin Header. Controllino MAXI and MEGA give us the option between internal RTC and Ethernet using SPI. At the same time, it is turned off so the SPI can be used through the Pin header.

Direct Contact from the processor
Direct contact with the processor, just like a place of an ARDUINO. Every pin is protected against ESD 4000V.
